Manual Sensors

A manual sensor is a web application accessible at manual.saturn.8279.ch that provides an easy way to make manual measurements to back up a point or manage it directly.

Introduction

A manual sensor is linked to an event through the event ID and a unique token. It provides times in milliseconds to the server. The sensor stores measurements in internal memory until a new token is set.

Name

Note: Our system doesn't enforce uniqueness, so be careful not to name two manual sensors identically to easily differentiate them.

The name of the sensor.

Event ID

The event ID, required for connecting to the application.

Token

The unique token, required for connecting to the application.

How to Use

Step 1: Share a Token with a User (Timekeeper)

  1. Navigate to the Manual sensors page
  2. Create a new manual sensor by clicking the "New" button and entering a name
  3. Share the event ID and token with a volunteer (click the share icon [share icon] to get a shareable link)

Step 2: Connect to the Application

Note: If you received a link, skip to step 2.

  1. Once you have the event ID and token, fill in the login form at Manual application
  2. Click "Login"

You're now ready to take measurements.

Step 3: Explore the Application

Note: If a volunteer logs out, the data is not destroyed. Data is only cleared when the token changes.

  1. Measuring Page

    • Access via Measuring page
    • Enter bib numbers using the keyboard
    • Send measurements by clicking the arrow icon next to the current bib visualization
    • The measure is recorded when the arrow is clicked
    • A red cross changes to a green check when the measurement is successfully sent to the server
  2. Data Page

    • Access via Data page
    • View all measurements taken by the application
    • A "Retry" button appears next to unsent measurements
    • A green check appears next to successfully sent measurements
  3. Logout

    • Disconnect from the application
