Point

A point is a geographical location within the event area. Typically, there are two main points in an event: Start and Finish. Additional non-critical points may serve as intermediate checkpoints.

A point is defined by two key parameters:

Name

Note: Our system doesn't enforce uniqueness, so be aware not to name two points identically to easily differentiate them.

The name of the point.

Main Sensor

If a sensor is placed on the point (placed sensor), you can designate it as the main sensor. All other sensors linked to the point will be considered secondary. Only one sensor can be designated as main (primary).

Placed Sensor

A placed sensor is a device positioned at a specific point for a limited time. This allows for a single sensor to be used at multiple locations. For example, a sensor could be active at Point 1 from 8:00 to 10:00, and then at Point 2 from 10:00 to 12:00.

A placed sensor is defined by the following key information:

Point

The physical point where the sensor is placed. It's related to points defined on this page.

Sensor

Note: In the current version, only manual sensors are available.

The sensor placed at the physical point. It can be any type of sensor implemented within Saturn and linked to your organization or event.

From Time

The start of the placement at this point. Before this time, measurements will be unlinked or linked to another point.

To Time

The end of the placement at this point. After this time, measurements will be unlinked or linked to another point.

Race

A race is a sequence of points to be completed within a set time frame. The start time marks the earliest moment a measurement can be recorded, while the stop time serves as a cut-off for data acquisition. A race is always against the clock. For gun start it's needed to use the start race button on the Admin measures panel.

A race involves 4 key elements:

Name

Note: Our system doesn't enforce uniqueness, so be aware not to name two points identically to easily differentiate them.

The name of the race.

From Time

The start of the race. It marks the beginning of measurement acquisition. Measures taken before the start time will be ignored.

To Time

The end of the race. It marks the end of measurements to be taken into account. Racer passings after this time will be marked as out by the system.

Path

Info: The app currently shows the list of point IDs (this will be updated when a more graceful solution is found).

A path is a list of points; the order determines the physical route of the race.
